Augsburg celebrate last-minute win

FC Augsburg surprised Werder Bremen on Sunday afternoon, coming back from 2-1 down with 25 minutes left to play to win 3-2. In actual fact, FCA went behind twice before winning the game with almost the final kick. Werder took the lead through Theodor Gebre Selassie (26’) but were pegged back just two minutes later, as Jonathan Schmid equalised. After the break, the Green-Whites were the more adventurous and were rewarded for this with a penalty which Max Kruse converted (65’). However, Manuel Baum’s men didn’t throw in the towel, mounting an impressive comeback. First, Ja-Cheol Koo levelled for the hosts (79'), before they finally snatched victory in the 94th minute through Raul Bobadilla.

Augsburg now have 25 points and occupy tenth place, meanwhile Werder have 16 points in 15th place, after picking up zero points from their first three games of 2017.
