Sulu opens the scoring
Former TSG defender Aytac Sulu (33’) and his defensive colleague Slobodan Rajkovic (85’) grabbed the goals for the visitors. Sulu’s came about courtesy of an error from Oliver Baumann, who failed to hold onto a cross. The Lilies could have taken the lead earlier on in the game as Rajkovic hit the bar with a powerful header after just five minutes of the game.
Hoffenheim fail to create
TSG pressed more after the break but a combination of poor finishing and solid defensive work from the Lilies meant that good chances were few and far between. The visitors could have doubled their lead through Marcel Heller after 57 minutes but he was wasteful. Ultimately, he wasn’t left to rue this chance as Rajkovic scored late on to make the game safe for Dirk Schuster’s side.
