Anna Blässe: the newbie with lots of experience

It’s been a year of fulfilled dreams for Anna Blässe. She made her debut for the national team against China at the Algarve Cup in March. Now she is in Switzerland as preparations take place for the summer’s World Cup, something she never would have thought could happen. “I was ecstatic beyond belief to receive the call up, I would never have expected it”, said Blässe. “I’m really happy to be here in Switzerland.”

And it’s clear to see when you observe the VfL Wolfsburg player. Blässe is a newbie in the team, yet she has known many of the players for a long time. In 2004 she was in Thailand with the U19 World Cup winning side. Back then, current players included: Annike Krahn, Lena Goeßling, Melanie Behringer, Simone Laudehr, Célia Sasic (back then under her maiden name) and Anja Mitta. The manager in 2004 and in 2005: Silvia Neid.

Anna Blässe laughs looking at a photo of the team back then. The 2013 and 2014 Champions League winner looked back through her career, as well as her private life, in pictures with DFB-TV. She was born in Weimar and her family own a butchers shop so she knows her bratwurst from a frankfurter. More insight on DFB-TV.
