Angerer and Goeßling nominated for UEFA Best Women's Player in Europe award

As a reward for their outstanding performances at the UEFA Women's European Championship in Sweden, Germany goalkeeper Nadine Angerer and midfielder Lena Goeßling from treble winners VfL Wolfsburg are among the final three candidates vying to be voted Best Women’s Player in Europe. Sweden’s Lotta Schelin is also in with a chance alongside the two European champions.

The recipient of the inaugural UEFA crown to recognise the best female footballer in Europe will be decided on 5 September in Nyon, Switzerland, during the draw for the Women’s Champions League.

Goeßling's teammate Nadine Keßler was voted into fourth place. Celia Sasic (formerly Okoyina da Mbabi – ed.) from 1. FFC Frankfurt also represented Germany within the top ten, finishing in eighth place.
