A point each for Sané and Can

On Matchday 29 of the Premier League, Manchester City and Liverpool’s match ended 1-1. Manchester City were defending their third-place position in the table only four days after being knocked out of the Champions League. German manager Jürgen Klopp’s side are only a point behind in fourth place, the final Champions League qualification spot.

James Milner gave the guests from Liverpool, which included Germany international Emre Can, the lead through converting a penalty in the 51st minute. The equaliser came from Sergio Agüuero, who scored his 13th goal for Pep Guardiola’s side, thanks to an assist for former Wolfsburg player Kevin De Bruyne. Leroy Sané left the action in the 83rd minute, when he was brought off by the Spanish manager.

Juventus stay on course for the title

Sami Khedira and Juventus have held course as they continue to lead the way in the hunt for the Serie A title. Matchday 29 saw Juventus triumph 1-0 over Sampdoria, and celebrate their 24th win of the season. Things took no time at all to get going, as Kwadwo Asamoah put in a cross which fell five yards from goal, following a lightning-fast attack down the left-hand-side, where Juan Cuadrado waited before rising up to put the ball into the back of the net, and Juve into the lead.

Mario Mandzukic missed a great chance minutes later, which would have made it 2-0. Sampdoria keeper Christian Puggioni also made two world-class saves against Gonzalo Higuain: one in the 20th minute, and the other moments before the end of the first-half. In the second-half, the Turin side cruised to a victory, without having to worry about the clock. Khedira played the whole 90 minutes and had another strong showing in the heart of midfield.

Juventus’ 73 points at the top of the table mean they have a 10 point lead over SSC Napoli. In third place are Antonio Rüdiger’s AS Roma, who by gaining three points later tonight against Sassuolo, can overtake Napoli to go into second place.
