15 out of the 16 teams confirmed for EURO 2017

The qualifiers for the 2017 Women’s European Championship in the Netherlands (16th July to 6th August) are almost over and 15 out of the 16 participants have been confirmed.

The eight group winners comfortably made it through to the finals of the competition, especially the DFB women. They won all eight of their qualifiers, scoring 35 goals and conceding none. The other top footballing nations also didn’t have to sweat over their place as France, Sweden, England, Norway, Spain, Switzerland and Iceland all qualified as group winners. Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Russia and Scotland all progressed as second-placed teams.

EURO draw set for 8th November in Rotterdam

The Netherlands automatically took a place in EURO 2017 as the host nation. The 16th and final participant will be decided by the qualifying play-off between Portugal and Romania, who were the two worst, second-placed teams in qualifying. The play-off will take place over two matches on the 17th and 25th October.

The draw for the group stage will take place in Rotterdam on 8th November and the teams will be split into four groups. The opening game of the competition will be played on the 16th July 2017 in Utrecht with the final scheduled for 6th August 2017 in Enschede.
