25 pairings for the first round

The first round of the Women’s DFB Cup 2015/16 has been decided. The 25 pairings were drawn by referee Moiken Wolk as part of a meeting of 2. Women’s Bundesliga managers at DFB headquarters in Frankfurt-am-Main. The fixtures will be played on the weekend of 22nd/23rd August.

Whilst the top seven teams from last year’s Women’s Bundesliga have been given a bye, five teams from the top division will still be in action in August. Werder Bremen will go to VfL Bochum from the Regionalliga, FF USV Jena to newly promoted 2. Bundesliga side SV Henstedt-Ulzburg and Bayer Leverkusen will visit 1. FFC 08 Niederkirchen of the Regionalliga. SC Sand and 1. FC Köln must win at TSV Crailsheim and Karlsruher SC respectively in order to progress to the second round.

In total, 50 teams from the Women’s Bundesliga, the two 2. Women’s Bundesligas and the 21 regional leagues will take part in the upcoming Cup campaign. Teams that will enter directly into the second round include cup holders VfL Wolfsburg, Bundesliga champions Bayern München and Champions League winners 1. FFC Frankfurt.
