IFFHS: Wolfsburg- 2014 Best Women’s Club Team

VfL Wolfsburg have been chosen as the Best Women’s Club Team of 2014. The vote, initiated by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS), was won by the German champions and Champions League winners with 189 points, while the French team Olympique Lyon finished second with 73 points.

The team, lead by Ralf Kellermann, the 2014 FIFA Women's Football Coach of the Year, have also picked up many other awards to go alongside their trophies. Wolfburg’s captain and German international Nadine Keßler was voted as the Women’s World Player of the Year, the Women’s European Player of the Year and, by the IFFHS, as the Women’s World Playmaker of the Year. The German national team's goalkeeper Almuth Schult was awarded the title of Women's World Goalkeeper of the Year.

The inclusion of Turbine Potsdam, who received 17 points, meant that there was also another German team inside the top ten.
