Wolfsburg thrash Cloppenburg

2013 Cup winners and reigning German Champions and Champions League winners confirmed their role as favourites against recently relegated Bundesliga side BV Cloppenburg. Wolfsburg Women had a lot more chances and didn’t allow the guests a way into the game. Nilla Fischer opened the scoring for the hosts in the 33rd minute, with Alexandra Popp doubling the Wolves’ advantage in first-half added time.

Wolfsburg remained on top after the interval: Lena Geoßling struck to make it 3-0, with Jovana Damnjanovic (2), Anna Blässe, Martina Müller and Vanessa Bernauer all getting on the scoresheet in the second half to wrap up an 8-0 success.

Bayern progress to next round after Jena win

Bayern München went into their encounter against USV Jena as favourites, with the Bavarians topping the Bundesliga table at present, while the hosts lie in mid-table. Bayern found life tough for long periods and only confirmed their role as favourites after the break. Melanie Leupolz struck with 12 minutes remaining to secure Bayern’s place in the final eight.

Frankfurt and Potsdam also through

Current holders 1. FFC Frankfurt took another step towards their tenth title. Dzsenifer Marozsán converted a first-half penalty, before Kerstin Garafrekes and Celia Sasic got their names on the scoresheet for FFC in the first half.

Three-times DFB Cup winners Turbine Potsdam hosted bottom Bundesliga league side Herford and showed no mercy. Julia Simic (pen.) and Pauline Bremer handed the hosts a half-time lead, before Bremer added another two after the interval for her hattrick and a 4-0 win for Potsdam.

SC Sand and 1. FC Köln also reach the quarters

Newly-promoted side SC Sand and second-tier side 1. FC Köln already booked their places in the DFB Cup quarterfinals in the afternoon. SC won 2-0 against league rivals MSV Duisburg, while Köln were 3-0 victors over TSV Crailsheim.

The match was goalless in the first half between the two sides battling for Bundesliga safety, before Patricia Hanebeck struck for the hosts 15 minutes from time. Anne van Bonn added a second a few minutes later to secure victory.
